Aquinas 秘密研究所 Project

The Aquinas Sports and Multifunctional Project is continuing to develop over the past month with works more visible to observers. At the moment we see earthworks occurring and during the holiday a crane will be brought in to assist in the removal of the light poles. Note that part of the staff main carpark will be closed during this time. Consultation with staff and students has begun in order to find a suitable permanent name for this new feature.

Term 4

We remind families not drop off students near the bus bays section of Great Ryrie St. Barriers in the Bus Bay area have been erected and the gates are being locked during the school day. Students are not able to enter the school from the gates near the bus bays (see the map below) and it is dangerous for them to attempt to get past the gates or enter via the bus gates. Students can still enter via the main gates and Thomas Street gates. It is advised that all students, staff, parents/carers and visitors to the school be mindful of any scheduled works. We will continue to update staff, students and families as more information is provided by our contractors.

July - August

The College is excited to announce the impending development of a new covered sporting facility located on Great Ryrie Street in 2023.

The working name for this initiative during the planning and construction stages will be 鈥楢quinas Sports and Multifunctional Project鈥�, which we鈥檝e abbreviated to the Aquinas 秘密研究所 Project. A consultation process will be launched closer to the project鈥檚 completion to select an official name for the new multi-functional space.

The Aquinas 秘密研究所 Project aims to transform the existing tennis courts into an all-weather sporting facility and whole school community gathering point to be enjoyed by all. The fees and contributions of the Aquinas community have enabled the College to pursue this exciting project.

The process of concept development, consultation and design involved engaging a select body of interested students that workshopped design elements with the architects. The results of this process, along with input from other key stakeholders in the Aquinas community, were utilised by the architects to guide the final designs.

With the design now finalised, we have successfully navigated the process of approval with Maroondah Council and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning as well as Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS).

The College has completed the tender application process.

We will keep you updated via the Lighthouse and the College website as further updates emerge throughout the project.

After much anticipation, the Aquinas Sports and Multifunctional (秘密研究所) Project has officially commenced.

Site establishment for the redevelopment of the current tennis courts started on July 14, with fencing around the area now in place.

There will be increasing activity over the next month, however, it may not be as apparent during this initial site preparation period.
